Today was my bye week on my Capital parkrun adventure so it was time again to volunteer and support another top local event to me Bedford.
I now have got a whole new level of respect for run directors and volunteers that so many things can happen on an events that runners don’t see!
There was an incident involving a buggy hope no one got hurt, runner dropping car keys and another their personal barcode, both were reunited with said items soon afterwards!
It is brilliant to see fellow runners either reporting the incident or picking up dropped items and handing them back to the volunteers at the first opportunity! Thats why I love parkrun so much!
Course
This course comprises of 2.5 clockwise laps of Bedford park that is run entirely on tarmac paths! Near the end of the final half lap you turn left at the Pavilion Cafe down a straight path that leads towards the bandstand this is where the finish funnel is located!
This is a fast course but it needs to be stated that there is is steady incline starting from Robinson Pool corner right up to the Pavilion cafe with this being tackled 3 times!
Facilities
There is parking available inside the park at the Foster Hill Road entrance and free on street parking along Park Avenue SAT Nav MK41 7SS
For the post run coffee is the excellent Pavilion Cafe inside the park, also even though it does not open until 9am they allow you to use their toilet facilities before the start of the run!
Final Verdict
I would like to thank Kate and all the other volunteers for doing such a top job today, you are a credit to us all!
Finally good luck Bedford with your 300th parkrun that is coming soon, you are a top venue for tourists that I would differently recommend!

Well done to my home parkrun Luton, Wardown in reaching your 100th event today, it sounded great fun with a fancy dress animal theme, I look forward to seeing the pictures 🙂
