Event 48 Bedfont Lakes

The back history of these London parks never ceases to amaze me with beautiful Bedfont Lakes,  Feltham being the latest chapter of my adventure! I find it is almost impossible to believe that this park was once was a gravel extraction works, then a domestic landfill site up to as recent 1973!

It is great to see back in 1988 Hounslow Council bought this land and converted it into Bedfont Lakes Country Park, with beautiful landscaping around multiple gravel pit lakes, that is home for wildlife and lovely routes to walk around! This gives me faith that if we think and act positively beautiful things can be created for everyone to enjoy!!!

Today was my pleasure to meet John Lennon (yes I know) who was running his 250 parkrun at this his home venue, very well done sir and can I say your celebration cake looked and tasted marvellous!

Course

Bedfont Lakes course map

This course is 2 clockwise laps of Bedfont Lakes Country park that start and finish at the children’s play area situated next to Clockhouse Lane car park! The course is slightly undulating in nature and run entirely on gravel paths with the second lap is slightly longer as you run around a small lake near the end to make up the distance!

Personal Stats

Just nice to get around and enjoy the view, time 35:46

Important info

Free parking is available at this venue with their recommendation is being Bedfont Road car park as there is limited parking at Clockhouse Lane, it is also nice to walk the half mile through the park to the start!

There are also toilet facilities available before the start at the Clockhouse Lane and for a post run coffee they go to The Orchard Café, 776 Staines Road, Feltham

Final Verdict

I would like to thank Claire and her team of volunteers for making us all feel very welcome at Bedfont Lakes, but I think we are going to work our synchronised jumping though :)!!!

So finally this a beautiful park to run with a very friendly bunch of locals, what more do you want from a parkrun!
