One of my personal joys at parkrun has always been volunteering, which at present is taken up on Saturdays running on my lastest parkrun tourism adventure!
So it was great to be able to visit Pinehill Juniors, Hitchin to help out and volunteer in one of my favourite role of tail walker!
I must admit that I always feel inspired supporting Junior parkrun events, seeing them enjoy their running in a safe supportive family environment, who knows we could be watching the next Mo Farrah or Paula Radcliffe in action!Course
The course is two and three-quarters anticlockwise laps of the parameter of Pinehill park that is entirely run on grass! The start is on top of the hill and on the final lap you finish just before the hill, turn left onto the field and run to the finish funnel!
Points to note- Being a grass course it could get slippery and muddy in wet conditions.
- It is hard to overtake on the trail section as the best route is a single path!
On a personal note does not matter if the event is a senior/junior parkrun you need your wits about you knowing the position of the runners at the back of the field as it could all change as runners decide not to finish the distance!
Facilities
There is free parking available at Pinehill Hospital sat nav SG4 9QZ, but there are no other facilities at this park!
Final Verdict
I would like to thank the run director Claire Molyneux and the rest of the volunteers for making me feel extremely welcome on the day, greatly appreciated guys!
So finally this is a lovely grass course that gives the juniors the challenge of an uphill and trail section on each lap. So what is there not to like and I throughly recommend Pinehill to you all 🙂
Best
